Less Of A Pop, More Of A Thud
Can't tell if it's the sound of my new blog design making a dull thud with my readers or my fatigue-drenched body hitting the floor. It's after 3am and I'm still working on little things, like fleshing out the individual pages as well as my profile page and my "elsewhere" page.
But I digress.
In fact, I need to apologize. The tagline for PlasticMind has always been food for thought, but lately it's really just been eyecandy. I suppose it's the nature of my work. What's really kept me from in depth blogging is that I've been going back and forth about how best to present my content. Should I seperate my content into different blogs, e.g. a design blog, a philosophy blog and a this-is-what-I-had-for-breakfast blog? Or should I keep everything central here at blog.plasticmind.com? No easy answers, but one thing is for sure... unless things slow down a bit, I'm sure this one will be around for quite a while.
But where do I get my content? Maybe I'll run away to Europe with my wife so I can get into some crazy tangles that would make great blog-fodder. Maybe I'll meet someone famous and have all the dirt to dish on them. Maybe I'll say the word 'bomb' and 'Iraq' in the same sentence so my website gets tapped. Who knows? The long and short of this sentimental post is, in the immortal words of Bartle's and James, "Thanks for your support."

i guess i have to work on mine now & make it look better.
but anyway, it looks great, especially considering that you used my favorite color (light blue)... too bad my wife has forbidden me from designing another personal site in that color LOL

If I had designed this site, I would think that it looked great...but, if you'll accept my humble criticism...You're the PLASTICMIND.. Don't you think you're look should be ultra-chic, modern, and edgy? Basically those words epitomize all your tastes; why doesn't your site reflect that. Again, this is fine...but, plasticmind...

Interesting feedback, Jeremy. I must admit I'm curious/insecure. Perhaps you could better explain your comment? Ultra-chic, modern and edgy are all fine terms, though they are a bit ambiguous--how would that translate into a website? Ultra-chic seems to communicate dentist office white with shiny everywhere. Modern could be anything from grungy to web 2.0. And edgy? That really got me scratching my head. Do you see me as edgy? Strange.
Also, you've left out a very important adjective--usable. My other blog was so cluttered you could've eventually found Waldo. I really wanted the site to be both pleasing and coherent.
I guess the best way to summarize this is to talk about how that my site so often reflects the mood I'm currently in; right now, I'm sick of the fluff, I want some substantial attention drawn to the content. Perhaps tomorrow I'll start work on a new bling-laden site.

I appreciate the necessity to create a site that does not rely on spectacle...I really liked the design of your old plasticmind site. Why not something with a bit of that style. I guess I'm just trying to say that your website always looked a bit like the web of the future....I don't know, it's easy to be critical without offering much positive feedback I guess.

I like the new look. It does focus on content, which is nice. It's got some really neat features that are subtle, which I tend to prefer.
So with this standard, and the Style Contest at 6A, it looks like I had better get things in gear and work on something cool, too. But I do so much like that plain blue/gray MT default template...
