Drudge Has Gone Mad

Matt Drudge, editor of the widely-read Drudge Report, has revealed just how low he’ll stoop when he doesn’t like someone. Drudge’s attacks on Mike Huckabee in recent days has revealed just how much of a tabloid his site is.
Today he attacks Huckabee’s most recent Christmas campaign video with this headline: Huckabee Ad Features ‘Floating Cross’. Go ahead, watch the video. And you’re going to run this as a “scoop”? Sounds like a headline I’d see in the checkout aisle of the grocery store, right next to Scientists Plan To Blow Up Moon, Say It Will Fertilize Earth.
Worse yet, he quotes Ron Paul as saying: “When fascism comes it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.” Sinclair Lewis actually said it, but… Fascism? Maybe RP was just caught off guard, but… Fascism?
Even if Huckabee did put it in there on purpose. Is that so bad? He did wish everyone a Merry CHRISTmas after all. Probably best if he’d have said “From all of us here at the Huckabee campaign, we wish you a Happy Winter Solstice Holiday!”
Too bad, Drudge used to be my addiction.

Maybe so. I do have a flair for the dramatic. But as an avid Drudge fan (I literally check the site 10-12 times a day), I'm pretty familiar with his tactics.
Another case in point was last week: splattered across the top was "Huckabee Wants To Take Back The Country For Christ" with a quote pulled out of context and right below it was a story about Romney receiving the endorsement from the National Review, replete with a poster of Romney standing tall in a pose worthy of Incredibles fame. Just yesterday he had a story about Romney in tears, choked up about the death of soldiers.
Put that together with the snapshot he's got up there right now of the National Enquirer headline proclaiming John Edward's love child scandal... I think it makes a pretty convincing case that Drudge is losing his edge.

18 December 20071. Jeremy Killian:
I think that you are being a bit oversensitive here, Jesse. As I've recalled, looking at Drudge virtually every day, he spends a lot of time attacking all the candidates. Consider the negative press that he presented on Rudy, Mitt, and really all of the candidates. I can't imagine that he is trying to smear any one candidate; from what i hear on his radio program (Sunday nights), he's fairly displeased with all of them.
