Extreme Home Makeover: PlasticMind Edition
We east coasters get all giddy when television shows come around. I know, I know, it's old hat for you Californians; but we don't see them too often outside our living room, so it's nice when they're in town. The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew is putting up a house (the reveal is tomorrow) about five minutes from our church, so I took an hour on Friday to stop by and see if I could get some good footage.
Turns out I arrived just in time for the demolition! I managed to slip past the barriers and got a really good spot right across the street from the house they tore down. And so I present to you, without further ado, my rendition of how this sappy show should be done. Ok, ok, one more ado: that's no mistake at the end; Ty ran the whole bathtub drop scene like ten times. Now, on with the show:

Wow that was sweet. I quite liked the music you used here, not living in the US I'm going to take a wild guess that it was the Home Makeover theme song?
How long did the entire demolition take?
14 March 20073. Jesse Gardner:
Arvind: Haha! Actually the first song was Countdown To Destruction (ironically) by Kerry Muzzey and then the second song is a remix of Palladio by Silent Nick (made famous by DeBeers Diamonds. The whole house came down in literally 12 minutes. They had it loaded on trucks within an hour.

Why must you call it "sappy"? That has such a negative connotation. Why not "touching" or something like that?

That's pretty crazy. Is that legal for you to post?

I want to drive the backhoe!
I love EM:HE. I think it's a great show that really emphasizes the benefits of blessing others. And, yes, it pretty much always makes me cry. But since it often gets my dad teary, I'll live with it. :)

I actually live just a few streets from the house and walked their almost daily to see the house built. It is amazing how fast they work. I did miss the demolition so thank you for sharing. I was there yesterday for the reveal and although I didn't get to see much because of the crowd, I believe the newspaper said they were over 3,500 people there yesterday. It is so nice to see the community come together and help this family out.

That really is the only interesting part of the show anyway. They don't show HOW they build the new house ... so I'm not too impressed when it is built.
