Pope Doesn't Support Islam!

Let's file this in the "ok, DUH" category:

Pope's Speech Stirs Muslim Anger »

I can't believe the gall of this guy. First, he is made the veritable head of the Catholic church and then he has the outrageous insolence to speak out against another religion! Come on. The absolute effrontery of pointing out the obvious flaws of Islam. The least he could do is downplay the differences between them and give everyone in the world a big vicarious group hug.

I mean, after all, Ali Badda Kolu, an Islamic religious scholar made it perfectly clear that Muslims do not defame the Holy Bible or Jesus Christ. The promise only to criticize Christianity. (whew!)

"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: Execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: That is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;" Or did I take that out of context?

"Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; at length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): Thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): But if it had been Allah’s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the way of Allah, —He will never let their deeds be lost." Oh wait, that's right. I'm reading it in English, of COURSE I don't 'get' it! *smacks forehead*

Jesse, you're fighting an uphill battle on this one. The only religion that is not allowed to make exclusive claims to truth and escape criticism is Christianity.

14 September 20062. Michael H:

Of course, not being a part of religion, I am above criticism.

14 September 20063. crystal:

Yay! So now when people say that my alma mater hates Catholics, I can say, "Well, Catholics hate Muslims!"

16 September 20064. Raymond:

I left a false religion (Hinduism) to follow the true God.

When Christians speak the truth about religion(s) that preach lies & violence, I am not surprise to hear that those followers get offended. The Anti-Christians of the world like Muslims knows that the only way to keep their follower from leaving Islam is threaten them with violence and terror. That is why they are afraid to speak out.

If they will not speak out then everyone else who don’t buy their lies should speak the truth.

I support the Pope! May the true God Jesus bless him.

Raymond.

16 September 20065. Ian:

Did the pope forget to mention the thousands of Jews that were slaughtered in the name of Christianity? Well lets see, there was the Spanish Inquisition where Jews had to become Christians or face certain death...No religion is perfect, they all have blood on their hands...One thing I believe in though is freedom of speech, the Pope had the right to comment, just like the Muslims Mullas and clerics that comment on the "vile infidels" day in, day out...

16 September 20066. David S.:

I think we all know that the Nation of Islam is going to use any excuse to justify there Violent excuse for a religion.

16 September 20067. Jesse Gardner:

Ian: Regarding your question about Jewish persecution by Christians, please see my comments in this article.

17 September 20068. Phil Garvin:

Itis so easy for Muslims and Muslim supporters to point to specific historical events as an asnwer to the crticism of Islam. Yes, there were some really bad folks in history that did some bad things in the name of Christianity. And there are some bad folks doing some bad things in the name of Islam.

Here is the difference.

Violence and killing are fully supported by the Islamic religous doctrin. The Quran contains verses and verses with statements about who to fight, howto fight and who to kill. And please don't answer with the standard "an eye for an eye" bible argument. The bible and the quran are not even close. Put the sayings of Jesus next to the sayingsof Muhammad. It's like comparing Ghandi to Hitler.

17 September 20069. Jesse Gardner:

You're on to it, Phil.

I'll let the words of Christ stand for themselves:

Matthew 5:38-47 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you. You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others?"

18 September 200610. Tim:

What gets me, is that the Islamic religion is proving the qoute by the Pope to be true!! Basically they are saying you are accusing me of killing so I am going to kill you.

11 February 200811. ameh.:

hahaha. lame.
